Fredrick Fleming vs. Gadiel Andaluz
4 Rounds Super Featherweight
Even though it was only Andaluz’s second professional fight he look like a seasoned pro against Fleming, dominating the fight right from the opening bell.
He used some smooth combos to keep Fleming off-balance. At one point late in the first round, it looked like Andaluz would hit the showers early when a mean left hook to the face of Fleming seemed to knock him off balance. He somehow made it through round 1, but at 2:06 of the 2nd round Andaluz connected with a hard left hook to end Fleming’s night. Andaluz moved to 2-0 with the win. . . both wins coming by way of knockout. Fleming stays winless in his professional career moving to 0-5
Alvin D. Brown vs. Brandon Lee Rios
8 rounds Super Featherweight
Co-Main Event
The 21 year old Rios had no problems with Brown as he controlled the entire fight.
Brown, the veteran of 36 fights, couldn’t seem to get anything going. Rios showed great speed and power as he threw lightning fast combos that had Brown staggering throughout the fight’s duration. At 1:10 of the 2nd round Rios land a quick combo, punctuated by a right hook to knock out Brown. Rios, just 21, looks to be a future contender in the Super Featherweight division. With the win, Rios moves to 16-0 with 11 wins coming by way of knockout. With the loss Brown moves down to 26-11
Javier Jauregui vs. Miguel Angel Huerta
12 Rounds Lightweight
NABF Lightweight Championship Fight
The Stadium was at full capacity as the NABF Lightweight Belt was up for grabs.
This main event didn’t disappoint as both fighters came to fight with one thing on their minds: to walk out with the NABF belt. The action never stopped in this one as both Jauregui and Huerta brought action to every round. Jauregui with his aggressive style and Huerta with the crowd at his back traded powerful shots all through the fight. In the 10th Jauregui looked to be pushed to the canvas, but quickly got to his feet as referee Curtis Thrasher stepped in to make sure that Jauregui was alright. The action continued after that as both fighters pushed themselves to the bell as this fight would go the judges. The crowd knew who they wanted to win as chants of Huerta could be heard all the way to downtown Chicago.
When the results came in Javier Jauregui, was the new NABF Lighweight Champion by Unanimous Decision. In a classy move the crowd favorite Huerta stayed around for pictures with his fans. What a great mainevent!
Miguel Angel Figueroa vs. Leo Bardo Martinez
6 Rounds Lightweight
Talk about a dominating performance by Martinez! He did what ever he wanted in the ringagainst Figueroa. When ever
Figueroa threws one of his very wide punches it opened him up to Martinez’s full-on power shots. Figueroa lasted all the way to 0:27 of the 4th round when referee Genaro Rodriguez called a stop to the action, as Figueroa could no longer protect himself. Martinez put on a good showing with the TKO, and he now moves to 13-9. Figueroa, with the loss, moves down to 4-6-1
Jose Guzman vs. Javier Garcia
4 rounds Lightweight
The last fight of the night was also the quickest as both fighters showed
that they had power, however Guzman also showed that he doesn’t have much defense. Both fighters came out quickly, but at 2:44 of the 1st round Guzman was knocked out by a clean left hook by Garcia. Guzman was knocked out before he hit the canvas. With the win Garcia moves to 3-0-1. Guzman suffers his first loss of his professional career moving him down to 5-1.
8count Promotions, as usual, delivered a great night of competive fights, and an action-packed, albeit controversial, main event. Mark it down as another great night of fights at Cicero Stadium.
